Our Resurrection

“Christ is risen! He is risen indeed!” Is a truth that we encourage each other with every week. The resurrection of Jesus is our hope. Paul says in 1 Corinthians 15:14 that if he had not been resurrected then our teaching, preaching, singing, and serving in the church would be pointless. He continues to say that if he had not been raised then our faith is pointless and are still dead in our sins. But Christ is risen!

Rejoice! Because Jesus’ resurrection, means we will have a resurrection. We are born in these weak, decomposing, and short-lived bodies, but because Jesus is risen, then we will rise with a perfect heavenly body that will never experience weakness. Rejoice! He is risen! When that last trumpet sounds then all believers who have died and those who are alive, will be changed in an instant to an immortal body.

No pain in our bodies as we get older, no more seeing children with diseases or illnesses. No more abuse, no more divorce, no more lying, no more laziness, no more pride, no more orphans, no more sin, and no more death. We are promised an immortal body prepared for heaven. Rejoice in Jesus’ resurrection because we have a resurrection! Knowing the answer we ask, “O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?” Our victory is given by God through Jesus’ death and resurrection. Because of this truth, let us remain strong in the faith, knowing that our work is not in vain because Jesus was resurrected, meaning we will be resurrected.

Let us no longer roll our eyes, mumble, or be embarrassed when pastor calls out “He is risen!” Do you not believe that Jesus is the Messiah and died a substitutionary death for your sin, crushing the serpent’s head and was raised from the dead securing your salvation? If you believe this, then fervently respond out of a heart of joy and a love for God, “He is risen indeed!”

How should I respond to this truth? Be praying for and witnessing to the lost so they may repent and believe. Stay strong in the faith knowing that your work is not in vain. Everyday, give praise to God for raising Jesus’ resurrection.

“So let it be today we shout the hymn of Heaven
With angels and the saints, we raise a mighty roar
Glory to our God who gave us life beyond the grave
Holy, holy is the Lord.”
- Hymn of Heaven, Phil Wickham
